the school

Stepping Stones Academy offers kindergarten classes, as well as primary school classes. It is open to children of all genders and religions. The pupils have to be officially registered. The school building has nine different classrooms, a kitchen, a library (provided by Bookfeeding Project) as well as a recreation yard and is based in the middle of the old town of Offinso. A school bus picks up children living too far to reach school alone walk.

A crew of teachers teaches daily from 8.30 am to 3 pm different topics as required by the Ministry of Education: English, math, Twi (local language), religious and moral education, creative art, computer techniques, citizenship education, natural sciences. Around 200 children attend the school every day.

Different international non-profit organizations offer volunteering opportunities at Stepping Stones Academy. The volunteers help the school staff with their daily tasks: they work on constructions, teach at the school, read with the children, help with homework, train the sport teams, etc. Former volunteers are still in contact with Stepping Stones Academy and visit or send money and materials for the future growth of the school.
