I "Hey guys it's me, Elisabeth from Austria! Back in 2016, I stayed one month volunteering at the Stepping Stones Academy. Since my stay, I am still in close contact with the school and Zacchaeus. We organize various project together and I am always trying to find new volunteers to stay at SSA. My time at the school was a really moving personal experience and I love seeing the progress the school has made in the past years. During my stay, it was amazing seeing all the kids smiling and having fun together, believing in a bright future. In 2016 I spent one month as a volunteer in SSA in Ghana. It was an unforgetable experience within a completely new culture for me. I loved the teaching, spending time with the kids, working with the inspiring team around Zacchaeus and especially playing football with the boys. Within hours after my arrival I felt completely immersed in the small African community in Buasi-Offinso, this was clearly exceptional. Years later I still have a close relationship with many people surrounding the project, and I am proud to be part of the wider group supporting the SSA. Nina von Osten and Theresa Speck
We are Nina and Theresa from Germany. During our one year stay 2018/19 at SSA via the weltwärts-program we experienced the best time in our life so far. Since our first day we were extremely welcomed and integrated in the family life. Not only in the family but in the whole SSA community, including all the teachers, students and friends, we experienced a very respectful, thankful and supportive togetherness. Not only in our classes but especially on the pitch with our football girls, we really enjoyed the vitality of the Ghanaians. Due to Zacchaues experienced, caring and open-minded character we never felt lost during our stay despite our young ages and inexperience. With their happiness, big hearts and hospitality we could find a second family in the whole SSA community. Hey! I'm Berta and I'm from Barcelona. In 2015 I traveled to Ghana for the first time and stayed at SSA for a month, it was a great experience and I completely fell in love with both the children and the people in the school. They all taught me a lot about Ghana, the culture and also Twi, the local language! That's why a year later I decided to go back for two more weeks, and I can't wait to go see everyone again sometime soon! It was a great experience to be 2015 for the first time at SSA and to teach all those different classes. I spent 3 most interesting months and am very thankful for it. All the people in the school are very motivated and enthusiastic about giving education to all those children. I returned 2016, 2017 and 2019. Zacchaues is doing a great job in and with the school ans also for the community. A stay there is a very unique experience, each time new and always friendly. Don t miss to go there. "My name is Najet, I'm from Germany and I stayed at the SSA in February and March 2017 and it was the BEST journey i ever experienced. It was full of learnings not just in terms of the Ghanaian culture or teaching and supporting students, but about new thinking of my personal values and standards. In this time I found new answers about these questions: What is important for me in life? And what role do I want to play in the society back in my hometown? I am so glad I used my stay in Ghana (amongst many other things) for reflexion, especially because back then I was 19 years old, just graduated High School and didn't really know what to do next after school. I would totally recommend volunteering at the lovely SSA no matter what age, sex, ancestry... all you need is open eyes, ears and mind!
